A closeup of the dress

Just for my sister Annie, here's the dress I bought for the formal. I should have taken a before and after because I had to alter it to make it modest. I bought it at Gabriel Brothers, and it only cost $20, so I bought two of them, one to wear and one for fabric to be able to make alterations.

I started by taking in the second dress (it was a size 10, and I'm usually a 4), and then by trying to figure out what to do with the back since it was too low. When I was at the dress party with the girls we thought I could take the front of my second dress and use that to fill in the back since the shape would be the same. It ended up working quite nicely and I added buttons to make it look a little more intentional.

Adding the sleeves was a little tricky too. Katie helped me with that and we had to work with a couple patterns to figure out one that worked with the dress, but in the end they looked perfectly natural and like part of the dress.
