Being cute is too easy...

Especially when your name is Ruby.

Bathtime

The evenings are Daddy's time to spend with Ruby. After being gone all day, Bobby loves to snuggle and cuddle and love his girl. And that includes giving her baths. It's just about his favorite thing to do (after waking her up, of course). It makes me smile to see him sing and talk to her and get her ready for bed. I always knew Bobby would make a great father, but I think he's surprised himself with how much he's enjoying it. He's great with Ruby and she loves her daddy, you can tell by the smiles she gets and the way her eyes light up and follow him through the room whenever he's around.

Fun with Daddy

As I've mentioned, we live for Ruby's smiles and we've devised a few goofy ways to get her to smile. Most of which make us look like total idiots but we really don't care. Her smiles are definitely worth it!

2 Month Exam

Ruby had her 2 month doctor's appointment today and she's doing great! She had to get a couple immunizations and was pretty upset about those pesky shots, but she's sleeping it off like a champ.

Here's the rundown...

Weight: 10 lbs 10 oz, 50th percentile
Length: 23 in, 75th percentile

She's still our long skinny girl and oh-so-cute!

Bloopers

Taking pictures of a squirmy, adorable baby who doesn't really understand that you're supposed to smile and hold still for a picture leads to a lot of photos that don't make it onto the blog. But don't worry! Some of those pictures are my favorite and make me laugh...a lot. Not that I'm laughing at Ruby's expense...okay, maybe I am a little, but memories are memories and I love all the photos of our girl. So here's a few that, until now, weren't deemed blog worthy...

Sometimes it's so hard to stay awake.

Why smile, when all you want to do is cry?

And you really just wish someone would tell you that they're taking a picture and you should look at them!

Two Months

Our little girl is officially two months old today! We can't believe she's already been with us this long. We live for her smiles, her squeals and her snuggles. I read something about motherhood (and I imagine it probably applies to fathers as well) that it's like having your heart exist outside of your body. It's so true! Ruby has totally taken over our hearts and we are so enraptured by everything she does. Bobby changes her diapers and says she could poop in his hand and he'd think it was cute. It's sweet to see how much he loves his little girl...I think it has surprised him how much he loves her and how quickly he embraced and enjoys being a father. He's a great daddy.

I'm doing pretty good too. Ruby's only woken up once the last few nights and it's been great! She really is such a good baby. She doesn't fuss much and is so happy most of the time. I count myself a very lucky mom with our little angel. And I must say, she is the cutest baby in the whole entire world!

Work it Baby!

Thank you so much, Amber, for taking such beautiful pictures of our family! We love them and we're so glad we have these wonderful memories to treasure always!

Photo Shoot

Our lovely friend Amber McArthur took some photos of our little family this morning. We were really excited about showing off our little Ruby and her sweet smiles and wouldn't you know it...she only smiled a couple times! Bummer! She had a hard time--she hates it when people mess with her and this photo shoot was all about messing with her! But we did get some really cute ones in between the crying and as soon as we have them in our greedy little hands we'll post them on the blog.

Family Exercise

Bobby didn't have school today, so this morning we thought it would be great to break in the jogging stroller.

It was a little cooler so we bundled Ruby up and she loved being nice and cozy in her new ride.

Bobby went running and I went walking with the little bug. We went along a wooded trail and it was an absolutely beautiful morning. Ruby was awake part of the time and loved looking above her at the sky and the trees.

But mostly she slept.

It was so nice having a morning together as a family and we can't wait until next week when Bobby's off of school.

My Birthday

I had my birthday on Saturday and it was so nice. Low key and spent with Bobby and Ruby. The moment that made me laugh though was when Bobby pulled out the birthday cake he got for me:

I love a site called Cake Wrecks (the link is listed on the side of the blog) and recently it had a series of posts about birthday cakes that had birthday mispelled. So to give me a chuckle, Bobby made sure my cake was grammatically incorrect as well. I love that man of mine!
