Biking to school

Bobby pulled out his bike from the basement and decided he was going to start riding his bike to school. He rides to the bus stop, takes the bus up to campus and then at the end of the day cycles all the way back. He looks cute, doesn't he?

The Little Brother's Wedding

My brother, Rob, was married this last weekend and I was lucky enough to be able to attend. Bobby wasn't able to since he was in school, but he let me go without him, much to his chagrin.

The wedding took place in the Rexburg Idaho Temple, and it was absolutely beautiful. The weather was perfect and the ceremony was tear-inducing and everyone looked absolutely lovely.

And of course, Lilly looked so cute in her dress.

The reception was held at the same location as my little sister's wedding last year, Rose River. It's a magical location along a river, with mountains in the background.

Rob decided he wanted to have a whole roasted pig, so that ended up being the star of the show.

Wedding Weekend

I had such a great time in Idaho with my family this weekend for my brother Rob's wedding. I love them so much, so any time I get to spend with them is precious. And, let me state this very plainly....I love, love, love my family, all of them, very much, with all my heart. That, being said, I couldn't wait to see my niece, Lilly. She's the cutest thing ever. I dare anyone to disagree.

Annie and Jonathan and Lilly are just about my most favorite people in the world. But that list also includes Mom and Dad, Maren and Dave, Rob and Becca, Grandma, Bobby, oh the list could go on and on. Try making a list of your most favorite people...if you're pretty lucky it can get pretty long.

We had a great weekend. We enjoyed the great weather, played games in the backyard, ate lots of wonderful food, and just had fun being together. We always play a freakishly large amount of board games, we just like them a lot. Bobby's kind of worried about our summer trip we're going to take to visit family because he is not a board game person.

I can't wait until I can see them again, and bring Bobby with me this time.

I miss my husband

This post is purely an indulgence, so you'll have to bear with me. When we found out that my brother Rob was getting married to Becca this weekend we were very excited. Then we found out that Bobby was going to be in school and wouldn't be able to come. He was really bummed out, and I was too for that matter, but we were still happy that I would be able to go and support them. But that was a couple months ago and Bobby didn't really think about it again.

Until last week. The realization hit him smack in the middle of the head that I was leaving him for a whole week. And he was kind of okay with that...until he realized that it meant I wouldn't be there for him to kiss in the morning before he leaves, or there to give him a hug when we see each other in the evenings when we both get home, or there to cook him delicious food that makes him groan with yumminess, or there to keep the house clean (I swear if I didn't clean the whole would look like the result of bomb exploding in our living room with the fallout reaching every room--he's not messy, just busy).

So, to my wonderful husband, I just want to let you know that I miss you so much. You mean so much to me and I wish you were here to hug me, kiss me, share my family with me, see the cuteness that is Lilly, have laughs with my brother and sisters, and just be here with me. I can't wait to be back home with you and wake up to kisses as you're leaving for school, coming home from work and having you waiting for me and being able to laugh and talk with you. I love you.

Battle of the Sexes

So, first of all before I write a darned thing I have to say I am married to a very smart woman. She is observant, sharp as a whit, and spells a heck of a lot better than I do. I have to mention my observation that I am noticing as a trend on this blog, and in general--->every time Maggie says I think this and Bobby thinks that, or I do this and Bobby does that, the comments are a little one sided. Out of 50 comments on such posts 49 ladies comment about how right Maggie is out of 50. Is that really possible? I am going to start writing posts about camo and spitting and see how much of a response I get....no, never mind that, Maggie will just erase it before it posts, she is very sneaky that lady of mine :) Also, if this post follows some other observed trends, I will get zero comments. She is in Idaho right now and I miss her a tremendous amount. I have nothing else to do except make a mess and post this blog entry.

Feed the Birds (tuppance a bag....)

I've loved having a yard since I moved into Bobby's house. I've loved planting flowers and vegetables, looking at the blooming trees, and sitting out on our porch and looking at the beauty around us. I started thinking I wanted to get a bird feeder a few months ago as Bobby and I started talking about a garden. So when we went to Walmart this weekend we bought a couple (much to Bobby's chagrin...he doesn't particularly care about spending money on birds when they can find their own food for free).

We bought just a basic feeder and seed to attract the regulars and a few songbirds (cardinals, finches, etc.) The dog in the background is our neighbor's. We don't know his name, but he's uber-cute and Bobby calls him Patch and I call him One-Eyed-Willy.

Our other feeder is for orioles, which I'm very excited about.

Hopefully we'll have some feathered friends around soon and some photos to share.

How does your garden grow? update...

The plants are growing...well, most of the plants are growing. We had a few casualties along the way. So Bobby and I stopped at the nursery last weekend and bought some tomato plants (because those were some of the poor souls we lost) and cucumber (because they sounded delicious and we weren't planning on doing them).

The herbs are doing pretty good. We have tons of cilantro, dill, parsley, basil and weeds coming up. I can't wait for all the fresh food this summer!

And the front flower bed is looking lovely. Another flower update--the flower in the pot was a gift from Bobby for our 4 month anniversary. He is a wonderful, sweet husband, no?

Good Friends

I've made some good friends since I've moved to West Virginia. One of them is Chad. Bobby's known him for a while now and they were good friends before I was in the picture. Bobby and Chad have loved to hang out and go mountain biking, and because they were such good friends before, I inherited Chad as a friend when I moved here. He's officially a Doctor now (you have to say it in a snooty voice, affecting a quasi-british accent) since he got his Phd in physics this year. We're both really excited for him and are wishing him the best in his job search.

So Chad came over for Sunday dinner for some good eats and good talk. Well, actually, the real reason he came over was so that he could bring some chicken nuggets and dipping sauce over (he has a thing for mustard in all it's variety, and Bobby and I bought him a jar of hot mustard sauce when we were at the ramp festival). Bobby came into Relief Society and asked if it was okay if Chad came over for dinner and could he bring chicken nuggets and sauce and I just smiled and said okay. Because if there's one thing I've learned....this man I'm married too is really a boy, and if he's allowed to play, he's extra nice to me.

First cookout of the summer

On Saturday night we had our friends, Natelle and Rich, over for the very first cookout of the summer. We were both excited....mmm...hamburgers, grilled corn, potato salad.

We had spent the afternoon cleaning off the patio and getting the chairs and table set up. The weather was beautiful; warm and sunny with a nice breeze. Bobby was in charge of the grilling, being the manly man that he is. Although the wind was slightly against us as it kept blowing the smoke towards us, but we were enjoying being outside too much to really care.

We ate and ate and talked in between and had a wonderful time. Thanks for coming over Natelle and Rich!

My Birthday

I had a wonderful birthday, thanks almost entirely to my wonderful husband. He surprised me the night before by doing the dishes and cleaning the kitchen so that when I came home from work, everything was spotless. I loved that! Especially knowing how much he hates to do dishes. He really loathes it, and so I know something special is going on when I find him at the kitchen sink.

The morning of my birthday he woke up earlier than me (as he does every day for school) and went about his morning routine. I woke up after he had left and walked into the kitchen to find this:

About a dozen balloons and a birthday hat and, let me just say, a huge smile on my face. I think I even said, "awwww" out loud. My friend, Natelle, also left a bag of cookies at the door, which was a lovely bit of sweetness for my day. Lilly, my sister Annie's 18 month old daughter, is just about the cutest thing you'll ever see in your life, and she called to wish me happy birthday too. I've got that message saved on my phone, and I play it every once in a while and smile every time.

Bobby called me throughout the day to wish me happy birthday. That evening our ward had an end-of-the-semester dinner and I drove there after work. He had bought a birthday cake for me and led everyone in singing happy birthday.

When we got home he presented me with my gift...which I was super excited about because it had arrived a couple days before in a rather large box, so I had a sneaking suspicion about what it was. He bought me a sewing machine! I had wanted one for a while now, and having told him that's what I wanted for my birthday, wasn't sure if he was going to invest in one. Bobby gave me the best birthday!

For everyone else who wished me well, thank you! Your love and friendship means so much to me and I am grateful for all of you!
