Rabbits

Yeah, they're pretty much everywhere. They've borderline over run the neighborhood. We've always got at least one rabbit in our yard, usually three or four. Part of our yard improvement will include adding a finer wire mesh along the fence to keep the little buggers out. We're going to have a garden and don't want it to fall prey to the little fuzz balls.

Not that they're totally unwelcome, especially to Ruby. We spotted a baby bunny, or a kit as I have learned, on the patio the other day. And now Ruby has been vigilant to keep us informed of when it appears.

You can see it nestled up in the cushions near the left of the window.

So for right now the little guy is welcome. But if he and his buddies start eating our garden, well, let's just say Bobby has been wanting to eat some rabbit.

Spring in Colorado

We've had some crazy weather the last few weeks. 70 degrees and then snow gets dumped on us. I can't pack up my sweaters and our tulips are hanging on for dear life. But there is one little girl in our house who is in heaven:

Playing in the snow one day and then going to the park a few days later without a jacket makes for a very happy girl.

Family Room Drapes

I finished sewing drapes for the family room. It's amazing how hanging curtains can make a room feel more pulled together and cozier (even if the paint is a little wacky).

I love the way they turned out. Now just imagine a light creamy gray adorning the walls and you'll get an idea of where this room is headed. The color is actually painted around the rod brackets so you can take a peek at what it looks like.

So big!

We've started singing a song to Jack that goes something like this: "My little Jack is sooo big!" And he's started doing this:

And as a side note, we have two steps going up from the family room into the kitchen and he now climbs onto the first one. He's very proud of himself. Though he has rolled off and was NOT happy about it.

While eating dinner and trying to get some of Bobby's food.

Bobby: I'll give you a bite if you take three bites of your food.

(Ruby eats her food.)

Bobby: How many bites was that?

Ruby: Maybe two or fifty, I'm not sure.

Just enjoying a drink together...

One of my favorite parts of being a mom to these two is happening upon the cute little moments they share. Like this:

While getting ready for dinner one evening...

Bobby: Come on Ruby, let's go make hotdogs and make history.
Ruby: I'm so excited, I never eat history before!

Easter

We had a wonderful, quiet time celebrating Easter. I've made a vow that Easter is never going to get over-blown and too commercial. It's going to be a quiet day celebrating our Savior. So we took it easy and only did a few fun things. We decorated Easter eggs using a cute kit from Target:

And then each kiddo got a small Easter basket. After having fun with goodies we went to church and had a special time contemplating Jesus Christ and all He did for us. And of course, Ruby and Jack looked adorable.

I am so thankful for my Savior!

Progress

Our first big improvement of the new house was finished the week we moved in. First we had the sitting room and dining room painted. Man, what a difference! No longer a cave, the front room is now bright and open. And as soon as that was completed, work began on wood floors.

They look absolutely gorgeous and totally make the home look soooo much nicer. Unfortunately, they were a huge chunk of change so no other major improvements will be happening in the near future. But we've got our eye set on painting the family room and kitchen, and refinishing the railings throughout the house.

And my early birthday present from Bobby arrived this week...an air compressor/nail gun set! Woohoo! Soon the baseboards will get done. Good thing, too, because Jack likes to travel around the perimeters of the rooms picking at the drywall where the trim used to be. We've found him more than once with hunks of drywall in his mouth. Not. Cool.

And Bobby has freely admitted that he loves our little house. Yup. Progress.
