Happy Valentine's Day

Happy Valentine's day Maggie, the love of my life!!! Of course I have to mention my second valentine's sweetness Ruby too. Maggie I love you so much. Not a day goes by that I don't thank Heavenly Father for you in my life: wonderful wife, fabulous mother, and incredible at everything you do. Here is an original poem to mark this occasion:

Searching and searching and never quite finding
Is the story of my past that once was blinding
Professional bachelor with not even a clue
No understanding of a me and a you
Then in the autumn of school I searched for a date
Barely even a hope of finding a mate
Then what to my surprise comes down from the escalator
A super hot girl who almost said see you later
She gave me a chance and let me prove to her then
That I was more a five who thought himself a ten
Then through the months that followed we happened to see
A beautiful courtship growing tall like a tree
With roots that grew down into the deep
Of the heart of boy with a lot of reluctance
That fell in love with the girl with so very much substance
She had it all that could be and she never stopped
To amaze this poor boy, that the chains she had chopped
That kept him down from progressing through life
Being halted and grounded without a great wife
To be what his Heavenly Father knew he could
Becoming a husband and father like he felt he would
She worked on hard on this boy teaching him manners and such
Inspiring with sweetness she loved him so much
First seeking her Father's heart felt permission
They got sealed in the snow in the land of a mission
Starting Eternity together was a dream for this man
Who had no idea how this woman could plan
With the painting and sewing that was now to take place
He could see the real vision that came from her taste
He continued to grow and to change his demeanor
Shedding roughnes and smoothing to becoming much leaner
Chisled and ready for becoming a Father
He stepped up to plate and we had a daughter
The Gem of our lives with her love and her spunk
Ruby kisses and loves and dances with funk
With her eyes bright as stars and words like honey
She gives us a giggle knowing she's funny
Now we are working on more kids and expecting one more
Now one kid, soon two, and someday four
So I'm ending this poem with so much to say
About the girl who I love on this Valentine's day
Thank you so much for all you are to me
The bride of my soul for all Eternity

I love you baby!!! Hope this is better than some chocolates filled with pink and orange stuff.

Lack of Motivation

Yup, that's what I'm suffering from these days. I don't know if it's just being 21 weeks pregnant, enjoying the beauty and fun-ness of our new home and town, or if I just am plain lazy these days. Whatever it is, Bobby keeps asking me if there's going to be a new blog post and I say, "Nope!". Bummer. Sorry.

Well, here's a rundown of life here in Colorado lately (and once we upload photos and videos from our iphones you'll have a visual too). We love it here...and I mean love. Our short stint in Beeville reminded me how much I'm not cut out for small towns. I love having all my shopping and errand running to be a quick drive and I love having all the choices of where to go. And the grocery stores and food options...I could go on and on about that. Especially with how much I enjoy baking and cooking, it's nice to have a huge selection to choose from and especially the organic options here in CO. So. Nice.

As far as the bun in the oven is concerned....Our little bun has a name and it's Jack Richard. Yup, he's a boy! We found out a week ago and we're excited and my uber-focused obsessive tendencies are now kicking in as I'm thinking about what we'll do for the nursery. I've already got some fabrics that I like and now I'm looking at paint swatches and Bobby is trying not to show the dread on his face when I tell him it's time to start painting soon.

Ruby is loving Colorado as well. We've started going to storytime at the library and she's loved playing in the snow and going to the park when the weather allows. She's getting so big and I can't believe she's going to be 2 in just a matter of weeks.

Bobby loves his job and is really enjoying the clinic where he's working.

So I guess that means we're happy here! Yes, indeed!

New Job

Here is a new post to let everybody know how the new job is going. The clinic here in Colorado is just night and day difference from the one in Texas. This is a very nice clinic with all the amenities; I feel like I am in dental Heaven :) The staff is friendly and everything is well organized. Although I miss the kind and wonderful people from our church in Beeville, this has just been an absolutely wonderful move for us. Maggie is so happy to be able to have a selection in all of her shopping. Ruby couldn't be happier to have all her little playmates at church. It is so darling to watch her interact with little kids her age. Even if my job was horrible, seeing the satisfaction that Maggie and Ruby have from being here is worth it. I have really enjoyed my first week at work and hope that I grow to love it even more as the year rolls on.

We're Back!

Yes, it has indeed been too long, but we are back in the land of the living...the land where the internet lives, to be exact. We made it to beautiful Colorado on January 1st, but haven't had internet until yesterday....and yes, that is way too long to be without. But, now we are wired again to the world, Ruby can watch Backyardigans, we can watch our TV and we can let all of you know our goings-on.

We got here on the 1st (Sunday) and our stuff didn't arrive until Thursday, so we had a great time *sarcastically said* sleeping on an air mattress and sitting on the floor to eat, and roaming around an empty house. Which, must be said, Ruby took in stride and did really well with. She did such a great job with the whole move and settled right into our new house, we are proud of her! But I was ready to start calling our house a home and was just about ecstatic when our truck came.

The home that we're renting is beautiful, it's almost unpacked and we've (I should say I've, because let's face it, Bobby doesn't decorate) almost finished decorating it and it's almost our own. I'll post pics in a couple days after all the unpacking madness has settled down, which is imminent.

We've had a great time exploring our new city. Being back in civilization is great...we've figured out that small town living is not for us. We can't wait to share our new adventures!

The Printer

Our printer is in our closet...mostly because it's a huge black monstrosity that I don't want in the living room. Ruby is fascinated by it. Every time we print or copy something she has to check it out. And she always strikes this pose:

Butterflies

We have a few bushes in our landscaping that attract butterflies and during the summer we didn't see many, probably because it was so hot. But once fall hit and the weather cooled we've had tons of butterflies frequenting our yard. Ruby's loved watching them and trying to find them and it's been fun for me to see the plants that I picked finally doing what they're supposed to.

Can you spot them?

Thanksgiving

We had such a great time in Utah for Thanksgiving. We saw Bobby's family and Ruby loved spending time with her Grandma all of Daddy's family. We ate lots of good food there, of course, and enjoyed being together.

We spent most of our time with my parents which was so nice because all of my siblings and their spouses were able to be there. With all of us and our schedules it's not a common thing for us to all be able to be under one roof too often.

Unfortunately Ruby got walloped by hand, foot and mouth disease and was understandably a crank most of the time. Luckily she's got such an easy going and sweet personality that she still had a great time, and we know how blessed we are to not have to have too hard of a time when she's under the weather.

She had so much fun taking a trip to the Wheeler Farm and seeing the animals.

And playing with Grandpa and his iphone and ipad.

And of course putting stickers on her aunt's and uncle's noses.

Going to Colorado

A couple months ago our little family came to the conclusion that our little Texas town is not where we're supposed to be. Bobby started looking for a job and I reluctantly realized that we'd need to pack up our house and move (ugh, I hate moving!).

We narrowed down where we'd like to go either to Utah or Colorado, both being much closer to family. Utah ended up being a no go, but we lucked out with Colorado and Bobby has landed a great opportunity in Broomfield, Colorado. We're very excited, and feel very blessed that this has all worked out and that we'll be able to make a new home there. Especially since we'll be having a new addition to our little family in June.

We'll be moving at the end of the month, so Christmas will be celebrated, albeit somewhat abbreviated, and then we'll finish packing up and be on our way. It definitely will be a little bit of a shock going from 70 degree weather to freezing temps, but we are so excited.

We will miss the wonderful people we've met here in Beeville. They are honestly some of the kindest people we've associated with and our little congregation here is truly special.

So now our next few weeks are going to be a blur of packing, cleaning and trying (cross your fingers) to sell our house before we move. Our new adventure awaits!
